A photograph has the potential of capturing moments that show personality traits, how the sun casts shadows and lights the landscape, a dancer at the pinnacle of a jump. At Blue Aperture, we are not interested in creating a photograph that has been seen a million times before. We want to capture youthful expressions that often times define different stages of development.
An image cries out to be rendered black and white, color or toned. Some photos are meant to be traditional 8x10s. Others prefer to be square. Recognizing how to process and print photographs is critical to their presentation. Blue Aperture strives to provide unique photographs. We do not believe in the "cookie-cutter" approach to photography.
Several have asked why choose Blue Aperture for a name? The answer, why not....

When I was young, my mother encouraged my creative side while my father tried desperately to pursaude me to be more conventional in my choices. Looking back I see a great deal of irony in this. My mother has always been the pragmatist of the family while Dad was the dreamer. He was multi-talented and anything he set his mind to, he accomplished. One of his dreams manifested after suffering a stroke. We suddenly had a family blueberry farm in Maine. The concept provided my father and me much entertainment as we established distribution lines and experimented with different product offerings. When friends asked how my father was, I told them about our blueberry farm. They had to ask whether the farm existed or not. When it came to selecting a name for my company, the choice was obvious. Why blue? Why not....
I am also involved in a fantastic venture here in Virginia. The Scottsville Center for Arts and Nature has the potential of becoming a regional force combining the power of nature with creative souls. To see what we are doing visit www.scottsvilleartsnature.org.
